Can we make it so ignored users quoting and reacting to you don't show up in alerts?
Or in quotes? No other site does this. The less I see of ignored users of the better. That's why they're on the ignore list.

This request has been initiated by Rizen simply because he has me on
his ignore list. He also down-voted me on my reputation numbers (to 41)
as a really puerile act—as he didn't like one of my posts a couple of weeks
back.
I'm still responding politely and helpfully about, and to, his current comments,
and it's immaterial whether or not he sees them in others' comments I happen
to post about. It's solely his option to choose to read my comments or not.
If anything, I've often thought that we should abandon the "down" (-1) vote
in peoples' reputation tally—as most other sites have. That's because people
can make a petty use of it in order to register their displeasure—whether earned
legitmately or not—at other members they don't like.
At the moment, members' personal ignore listing performs as it should—that is,
someone like Rizen never sees any of my initial postings. But to try and effectively
censor my comments to others (which just happen to incidentally mention one of
his comments) is simply not on.
And as far as alerts go, one can choose not
to read them should one desire not to. Easy.

No I'm not, but I do have tendencies.

Well, in over a month now since Rizen posted this silly
dummy-spit, 100 people have viewed it but nor bothered
to respond—other than a single emoji LOL.
It's pretty obvious then that nobody here agrees with his
request, primarily I suspect because it was aimed solely
at me and my comments, saying; " It's ignorant people like
you who criticize others while adding nothing of value themselves".
I'm more than happy to have the content of my posts viewed in
contrast to Rizen's in order to determine whose are of more value.
I'm also not certain as to how he can so confidently describe me
as "ignorant", as I don't have any recollection of actually ever
meeting him!
At any rate, I'm still more than happy to respond to some of his
stuff if I think it might be of interest to him; whether or not he
reads it is, I guess, neither here nor there at the end of the day.
Ultimately though, I'm not the sort of person to hold petty
grievances against anybody—here or in real life.

I've never put anybody on my ignore list, in 20 or so years of posting on message boards. It's just not me cup of tea I guess.

Hello @ Rizen, I really hope you could consider giving SYZ another chance, it's horrible seeing this situation that's unfolding between you. Firstly, I hope you can see, in time, that he is a truly compassionate person, who in my case helped me through so much mental suffering after my operation, and ever since, completely unexpected and out of the blue and unprompted... he will always be a hero to me. Secondly, as I've said before, I think, am not sure, but think I have 'Asperger's Syndrome', a form of 'high functioning autism', which may overlap with whatever type of autism you have. I recognise for instance, tendencies in myself to think rigidly, often in black and white terms, to seek closure, to close doors, and burn bridges etc and all of that, and I wonder if that is similar for you, and perhaps related to what is going on here, and if it is, I would just like to say, that in my experience Buddhism has been a great counter to that... not easy but helpful nonetheless... to see things not in fixed, black and white terms, as may be our tendency, but instead as ever changing... and that includes people. I don't know what triggered you to this anger with SYZ, but my point is, that whatever it was is not fixed, not black and white, from a Buddhist POV... it's ever changing... ever evolving. So I don't know, maybe you saw him ranting about something or whatever... but from a Buddhist POV, and more and more my POV too, that is not fixed and unchanging, but rather ever-changing and ever-evolving. He may have been ranting or pissed off about something or whatever, but the fact of the matter is, we all are from time to time, we all get angry sometimes, we all rant sometimes, I do, he does, everybody does... it's not fixed, it's a flux. So I just hope you can give him another chance, and see that. Feel free to tell me to fuck off, or change your ignoring to me if you want, but I really really hope you can consider giving him another chance, because in my experience he's a truly kind and compassionate person.

I appreciate both your concern and your support emjay. I'm not exactly
sure why Rizen chose to put me on his "ignore" listing, and also taken the
time (bizarrely?) to give me a negative rep (-1). From my long(!)
experience on the Interweb, it's difficult sometimes to fully understand
what motivates some people to do what they do.
I guess we all have our our "off" days and maybe respond to people in
inappropriate ways on that day, but usually we get over it—given a bit
of time to "cool down" as it were. Unfortunately, some people take
others' intentionally pointed but lightweight comments all too seriously,
and can hold a grudge way beyond its use-by date. Thin skins maybe?
I never have, and (very seldom do) put anybody on "ignore" as it's ultimately
a pointless exercise, but to some people who do that, I guess it gives them a
satisfying feeling of moral power—over something like the internet which we—all
of us—have little to no actual control. It's like they're "punishing" you in
the only way they can.
And as I said earlier, I'm still happy to (and have been) responding to his posts.
Our time on this mortal coil is far too limited to spend half our days in anger.
