Artemis 2 mission
I was home between sophmore and junior years....  glued to the TV like most of the country.

We had a TV in the lounge, rabbit ears. ("Boots" didn't get much time to watch TV, so whateves.) Chicago was right on the edge of recieption for us. Couldn't see much so we just listened.

I agree, but I've also seen her in braids. Even a cap would help. This is work after all, fashion often takes a back seat.

However, others have not reigned in their hair in the past. Must be a grumpy old coot thing I'm experiencing.

The Artemis mission was planned long before cadet bonespurs ascended to the presidency. Keep flinging feces...

Yeah, NASA planning is measured in decades. Trump can't even plan his next sentence.

My only issue with manned space flight is that sending humans into to space is too risky and expensive, compared to sending robot probes, and many probes last years beyond what humans can do.

I want probes going to all the outer planets and Jupiter and Saturn's moons.

Trump will just want to build a golf course there.

Risky, pissky. Humans do crazy shit all the time. I watched an Arclight Raid from way too fuckin' close once just to feel the shock waves. Very cool.

I just hope that heat shield holds together and this thing doesn't go the way that Columbia did.

I heard that there were some shield issues with Artemis 1 and the plan is to make the angle of attack steeper. Higher heat generated but less time in the zone.

I'm not gonna a stop people from doing crazy sh*t, as long as they're fully aware.

But, sending humans farther than earth orbit doesn't make sense, and if there's a disaster like Columbia or Challenger, space missions can be set back for a long time, it's just not  practical, and it can make politicians less likely to support new funding.

Sending a hundred probes out to a hundred places for the same price, who cares if some of them don't make it.

We're not in a position to have 5 year missions to go where no man has gone before, we're still in space travel kindergarten, we can't even keep the toilets running properly.

Let's go where no man can go.

We figured this tech out in the sixties. If you're going to have any sort of human presence in space then at some point you have to say, "Yes, we're ready," and move on from probes.
