Democrats in 2024 -- win, lose, or draw?
Haven’t polls shown that @ epronovost list is hugely popular amongst a majority of Americans? Trump won on the societal positions of LGBTQ (particularly the Trans portion), DEI and religious rights. It seems America was more concerned about sex operations in elementary schools and whites being held back because POC got “their” desired jobs. Trump won because too many can’t get beyond those woke ideas and not on actual policies. People are hurt by the high price of eggs so Trump decides Tariffs will fix their woes, which it won’t, and they’re so politically uneducated that they think it will.
Until the people realize that epronovost’s ideas ARE what they want and need, the Republicans will keep them fixated on Trans youth and woke stuff and ignoring what will actually fix their situation in life…if they can get beyond worrying about other’s genitalia.

Thanks for your opinion.

Democrats in 2024 -- win, lose, or draw?
(12-06-2024, 11:06 PM)mordant Wrote: Democrats, particularly at the national leadership level, are as delusional in their own way as MAGATs. I predict that they will continue to cater to wealthy donors, lean right, complain that the problem is they didn't lean right enough.
Public perception of the Democratic Party now for the first time is no longer that they're the champion of workers, they are just about social "justice" and identity politics. They have lost the mantle of pro-labor. Reliably blue districts of white working people turned red way back when Clinton rammed NAFTA through; now reliably blue districts of latinos and blacks are turning red.
It's all over but the shouting, so far as I can see. I don't see MAGATs waking up and I don't see Democratic Party leadership waking up. Neither will make substantive changes. We will sail on past 1.5 degrees on climate, stick with a $7.50 minimum wage, probably regress back to pre-existing conditions and the primacy of the Claims Denial Department even for people like me who try to escape it via traditional Medicare, and try to keep the hoi polloi from getting restless with bread and circuses. It's oligarchy and kakistocracy all the way, baby.
Unlike Trump, Democrats realize that a president must try to represent all Americans. However, like @ epronovost suggested above, it might be time to end that strategy on the next go-round, and appeal more strongly to our own base. After all, its not like we are convincing many heavily-propagandized Republicans to vote for our candidates.
My own opinion is that we shouldn't try to compromise with liars. That's too similar to appeasement before WWII.

Fuckface lies constantly to his own base. Why should democrats believe a word he says?

Nowadays almost everything that isn't far right is deemed to be far left.

Yes. Today's Left is considered to be as far from rational as the far Right is. That is incorrect. The Left has not changed much, but the Right has gone off into Lal-La-Land. The Right says the Jan 6 insurrection was "just tourists". The Right thinks that people who want to destroy government are "fixing" it. The Right thinks we should love Russia and China and Iran. The Right thinks that billionaires should rule us.
The Left wants to feed starving children, educate children, get along in international organizations, honor treaties, and improve things generally.
I do see a slight difference there, LOL!

Interesting, very detailed poll HERE.
The first half dozen pages or so are the most
relevant to the Republican v. Democratic debate.
