The Beginning of "The End"?

The Beginning of "The End"?
Some prominent critics of Donald Trump, and those
he has vilified as “deep state” saboteurs, are taking
seriously his vow of retribution.
A retired US Army officer who clashed with senior
officials in Trump’s first White House has looked into
acquiring Italian citizenship; A member of Trump’s
first administration who publicly denounced him is
applying for foreign citizenship; and a former US
official who signed a notorious October 2020 letter
suggesting that emails purportedly taken from a
laptop belonging to Hunter Biden could be part of a
“Russian information operation” is seeking a passport
from a European country.
All spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid
undermining their own preparations. The planning,
they acknowledge, responds to a hypothetical worst
case in which a second Trump presidency ushers in
systematic suppression of free speech and criminalisation
of dissent. Trump’s victory alone has set off alarms
among some of his most outspoken critics, as well as
within parts of the intelligence and national security
communities he denigrated as the “deep state” and
accused of subverting his agenda.
Following the selection of Matt Gaetz to lead the Justice
Department, many are watching whether Kash Patel, a
Trump loyalist who appended a “deep state” list to his
2023 book, “Government Gangsters: The Deep State,
the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy,” lands a
senior role at a top agency such as the FBI.
A former senior national security official who is on the
“deep state” list compiled by Patel said there are certain
factors that give him a degree of security, namely that
he no longer works for the government or has a security
clearance that could be revoked.
“They can’t take away my job, my health insurance, my
pension,” the former official said. But “what if Trump goes
completely off the rails and decides one day to just start
rounding up the enemies?” he added. “He could sign an
executive order and say, ‘I’m suspending habeas and
authorising the temporary detention of people who pose
a national security threat to the United States.’”

The Beginning of "The End"?
Quote:Republican senators are warning that former Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-Fla.) nomination to serve as President-elect Trump’s attorney general is in serious trouble, even though Republicans will control 53 seats in the upper chamber next year.
Gaetz will get a chance to make his case for why he should lead the Justice Department, but Republican senators warn he faces an “uphill” path to confirmation.
In addition, Republican senators are supporting the call made Thursday by Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) for the House Ethics Committee to release the findings of its investigation of Gaetz for alleged sexual misconduct and illicit drug use.
Two moderate Republican senators, Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), have already expressed strong reservations about Gaetz’s nomination to serve as attorney general.
Four Republicans would need to vote against Gaetz to sink his nomination, and GOP members warn he is likely to encounter resistance from other members of their conference.
“He’s got an uphill climb,” Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said when asked about Gaetz’s nomination.

When it comes time to confirm Gaetz or upset The Donald, I think I know which way they'll swing, though I mightily hope I'm wrong.

I wonder if Trump is doing this to intentionally clog the system. Most of the people picked make no sense (to normal people). So while things are bogged down during the conformation process Trump will fill posts with temporary/acting people that side step conformation. Actually he said he preferred 'acting's' during his 2016 term.

He told the legislative branch that they ought to give up any checks or balances they have on him, they said they would, now he's daring them to prove it. If they don't let him install a child sex trafficker as americas top cop they will out themselves as rinos, the enemy within. When he finishes exiling the dissenters, he'll return to the well and work on outing everyone who didn't clap while he did it hard enough.

I think that only four votes against is not a big hurdle. Both Thune and Cornyn, assholes though they are, seem set against the nomination. I don't see a bunch of whipping for this.
