I think they are full of shit.
This happens in Australia, particularly at federal elections.
It's estimated here that 11% of voters decide which way
their ballot's going while they're waiting in the queue at
the polling booth (from 2022 electoral data).
Reviews also found that 26% of voters had not decided in
the campaign’s final week, and undecideds were more likely
to swing to the incumbent.
This kind of occurrence makes it clear why a democratic republic might be superior to a pure democracy. A large segement of the human population cannot be bothered to take anything seriously.

So it's not just a Yank and Limey thing then it's global.
The corporate world has caused human stupidity and ignorance to accelerate at an ever increasing rate. Some people are now so fucking stupid the they don't know who Donal Trump is. If they did they would recoil in horror.

If Truth-In-Advertising laws applied to political ads we'd all be a lot better off.
In Arizona these dark-money groups - (translation: rich motherfuckers who are given carte blanche by the Supreme Court to hide their identities ) are filling the air waves with claims like "So-and-so ( doesn't matter who....they use the same ad with different names all the time ) VOTED to allow criminals to kill your family." The source is usually Newsmax or FOX but it doesn't matter. What they really did was vote years ago against some shitty republiKKKunt bill that would have cost taxpayers $25 billion for nothing.
They have the money to lie and permission to do so with impunity. And they do so.
I can't imagine it is different in any other battleground state.
- “The men the American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth.” ― H.L. Mencken, 1922

Just because your guess was right doesn't mean your logic was. You had a 50% chance from the start. The same goes for others too.

Hindsight is a wonderful teacher, but doesn't
grant you any bragging rights.

There is no reason a woman can't be a good President. I am convinced to this day that Hillary Clinton would have been a very good President. I could see Harris standing up to Putin had she been elected. I can't see Trump doing the same.
Yes the "misogynists and racists" won this time (and I certainly hope it is the last time). The old ones are slowly dying off and good riddance to them. While I am waiting for charts of the younger/minority/gender voter's choices, I fear I may be appalled. I have lived in Maryland for 61 years, which seems to be an unusually tolerant and "accepting" State.
The majority of other US citizens may be more "misogynists and racists" than I realized. This election was a complete shock to me.
