I was about to post the same basic concern myself. Lately, too many people are posting a quote without attribution.

I agree completely. It is entirely confusing when you see a quote and don't know the source. Quotes can be just a partial statement in a whole long post. But if you can't find the source, you don't know the context. Was it a sort of "aside" comment? Was it about the post that used the quote? Was it accurate? If you can't see the source of the quote, you are denied information about it. And information is what (I hope) we are all about here.

When a quote is unattributed, it is a form of deception. And I am not here for deception or any great desire to deal with them. .

I go through some struggles with multi-quote posts (and I hate them). A suggestion to make things easier on everyone? Just post and copy quotes into your post as needed.

Yes.  Sometimes "nested" posts are ridiculously complex
with often eight or more included quotations.  If people
wanna nest quotes—particularly long ones like SteveII
posts!—then please trim or clip the post to highlight only
its points salient to the thrust of the thread.

For example, if I were responding to my own comment
(here) then it'd look like this...

 Agreed.    Thumbs Up

—Which is why you'll often see me use ellipses.
