An expert psychiatrist is sounding the alarm in
the wake of Donald Trump's bizarre presidential
debate performance against Kamala Harris.

"Tuesday’s presidential debate was, among other
things, an excellent real-world test of the candidates'
cognitive fitness," said Richard Friedman, a psychiatry
professor at Cornell Weill Medical College in New York.

While Harris "certainly exhibited some rigidity and
repetition," his judgment is that her performance
seemed normal.  The 78-year-old Trump's, on the
other hand, was "alarming".

"Much of the time," Friedman wrote, "following Trump’s
train of thought was difficult, if not impossible".

"If a patient presented to me with the verbal incoherence,
tangential thinking, and repetitive speech that Trump now
regularly demonstrates," the psychiatrist continued, "I would
almost certainly refer them for a rigorous neuropsychiatric
evaluation to rule out a cognitive illness".

While he can't diagnose Trump with anything because he's
not the larger-than-life mogul's doctor, Friedman pointed
out that for a man who's almost 80, dementia or Alzheimer's
are not at all uncommon.

In recent days, the former president has lambasted the Harris interview, accusing CBS News of editing the sit-down with correspondent Bill Whitaker. On Thursday, Trump used his Truth Social platform to again take aim at what he alleged to be “a giant Fake News Scam,” accusing “60 Minutes” of replacing Harris’ answers with another to “make her look better.”

“60 Minutes is a major part of the News Organization of CBS, which has just created the Greatest Fraud in Broadcast History,” Trump wrote. “CBS should lose its license, and it should be bid out to the Highest Bidder, as should all other Broadcast Licenses, because they are just as corrupt as CBS — and maybe even WORSE!”

In a statement, Rosenworcel emphasized that the federal agency “does not and will not revoke licenses for broadcast stations simply because a political candidate disagrees with or dislikes content or coverage.”

“While repeated attacks against broadcast stations by the former President may now be familiar, these threats against free speech are serious and should not be ignored,” Rosenworcel said. “As I’ve said before, the First Amendment is a cornerstone of our democracy.”

He sounds like whiny fascist. Granted being fascist in XXI century is insane in common understanding of this word but I doubt trump insanity. He is just idiotic fascist clown spouting dumb crap using pre school kids vocabulary.

I think he sounds a little bent. I'm not a psychiatrist and can't diagnose anyone, but he sounds to me like he's batshit. Listen to him for one entire minute and see if you can follow his train of thought. It's like playing hopscotch with a blind paraplegic.

I could agree that he is insane in common understanding of the word but if I'm to be entirely honest then he simply sounds like many other polish, right wing politicians - incoherent, dumb, hateful and whiny. I wouldn't really argue against him being insane but to me it seems more like a simple stupidity and old age.

I'd be interested in knowing what percentage of
the larger base of "average" Republican supporters
think about a claim that some government agency
can actually control the path and intensity of hurricanes.

By average, I mean the 29% of the voting public who

Downunder, all we hear about are a handful of the most
vociferous, well-known Republicans with media platforms

The FBI disputes that characterization, but he was an odd fellow.

Local cops arrested an armed man outside a Donald Trump rally in California Saturday, and the local sheriff has doubled down on claims that a third assassination attempt was prevented – even though he let the suspect walk after posting a meager bail for gun charges.

“I truly do believe we prevented another assassination attempt,” Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco told reporters Sunday, a day after suspect Vem Miller was arrested at a checkpoint outside Trump’s rally in Coachella Valley.

Miller was caught at a police checkpoint allegedly trying to enter rally with a phony press pass – but when cops noticed his car was unregistered, they searched the vehicle and discovered a cache of fake passports and driver’s licenses, along with a shotgun, a loaded handgun and a high-capacity magazine, officials said.

He was soon booked on weapons charges, and then sprung after posting $5,000 bail, but the sheriff turned around and told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that his department had all but saved Trump’s life.

Federal agencies, however, appear to disagree.

The Secret Service believes it unlikely Miller was attempting to assassinate the president, and the FBI is not investigating it as such, sources told The Post, who noted Miller is a member of an anti-government far-right group and probably had the weapons for personal defense alone.

He reportedly asked for a lawyer after the FBI tried to interview him, and briefly told reporters claims that he was an assassin “complete bulls–t.”
