Comparison of average deaths from influenza (past 2 decades) and Covid (annualized over the pandemic to date).

Call it a Darwinnowing. If the current populace is in this situation, other populations will succeed it. If the current population doesn't support survival, for whatever reason, more of that population will die. The really sad part is that many of that population didn't need to die, now. Playing devil's advocate in a perverse sort of way, I wonder how many of the hard right consider that loss acceptable? At some point, simple ignorance of medical practice might be replaced by an understanding of the human cost, but I haven't seen that.
