You will not find a reputable virologist who will tell you it's endemic or that we can't respond to it much more effectively.

There is, however, an enormous gap between "saying" and "doing."  Let me know when they close the action gap.

It's not a defect of virologists, but of bureaucratic and political leadership. Virologists are not just spouting some pie in the sky impracticalities that could never be realized or would have no effect or can't be sustained for any length of time. The root problem isn't scientists, but lack of societal and political will to make shared sacrifices for the common good.
