How does one reduce but not prevent it?  Fewer severe cases is prevention.  Same as cardiovascular disease, which you didn't have a problem with.

So, in other words, when I said one can prevent severe illness, your assertion now is that you understood me to be implying we could prevent ALL severe illness?

Put yourself in my shoes. There are people here who do not find vaccination to be reasonable precaution. They would argue that, although I'm vaccinated and they're vaccinated, if I go out without a mask on I'm literally endangering their lives. They have a near-zero risk tolerance regarding covid. So, yes, that was my starting assumption in dealing with you.

You do realize that Covid is a contagious disease, don't you?  You may never know the person who you killed by going maskless.
