It is certainly true that not all of the media are made up of journalists.  But to say the media have no standards is unfair, and there are many other sets of standards as well.

Of course, like any other principles, people are better in articulating them than living up to them, especially in certain cases.  So it's just as well we are all on our guards and pay attention only to the most reliable sources of information.

From my point of view, we internet posters are considerably more likely to be inaccurate than the media.

I don't agree, unless we really parse out "the media" and take each case one by one.  An internet poster can at least seek out and choose to consider both sides of a story, we have no financial interest in only spewing the far left or far right view of an issue.  But follow the money: most of the media certainly does and will only hire and promote those with appropriate fanaticism for the political view that suits their target audience of viewers and clickers.
