Some random person writing from South Africa claimed on Twitter today that cases of Omicron in the vaccinated is characterized by extremely mild symptoms. So far, they have not even noted the characteristic loss of taste and smell. A few aches / pains and mild cough.
Of course ... this is some random person in South Africa, one person's view getting sucked into an information vacuum when people are hungry for info. I just note it as a data point for now. I certainly hope they are right, because if true, and this variant spreads readily enough to supplant other variants, it might actually HELP.
OTOH someone else pointed out that if you're infected with variant X, it's not like the virus puts out an "OCCUPIED" sign or attacks other variants. It's entirely possible to be infected by more than one variant at a time.
These things get complicated in a big damned hurry ...
