Coronavirus spreads. But don't panic! (topical thread)

Until 4th of July Germany may pass the USA in vaccination rate.

Current status:
USA 53%
Germany 51%

And meanwhile, here in Australia, only 27.2% of our population has been vaccinated.
This parlous state of affairs is due entirely to the unsatisfactory performance of our
Liberal (centre-right) Federal government.  

It misinformed the public about its securing sufficient doses of both the Pfizer and
AstraZeneca vaccines; it published ultimately false projections of the vaccine's roll
out program; it made wildly inaccurate politically-motivated claims about the number
of people who'd be fully vaccinated and when that would happen; it repeatedly changed
its mind about which age groups would get which vaccine—under 50s or over 50s,
under 70s or over 70s, then over 60s or under 60s, and lastly over or under 40s and
then down to 16+.   A total shit shower!

It's only been by sheer good luck(?) that we've not had massive numbers of COVID infections
and deaths, mainly due to the control of our entire continental border which has allowed
us to limit the numbers of people attempting to enter Australia—largely decided on the
grounds of compassion—births, deaths, marriages, funerals etc.
