Australia's administered only 2 million COVID vaccine doses, which means our rollout is
nearly 3 million doses behind what the government claimed it would be as of 1 May.
But... Australia's top(?) infectious diseases expert Dr Nick Coatsworth pointed out that the
rollout is on "a promising trajectory". WTF?
But the number of vaccine doses administered has fallen well short of initial government
forecasts. In January the government said vaccinations would begin in late February—which
they did—in order to have four million adults fully vaccinated by the end of March. Never
happened. Nowhere near that figure. And at the current rate, Australia's adult population
will not be fully vaccinated until March 2024.
Either Coatsworth is in the government's pocket, or is blatantly misrepresenting statistics.
The vaccination rollout is so far off its proposed trajectory that even Blind Freddie could see it.
Coatsworth overestimates his clinical position anyway; Professor Paul Kelly is regarded as our
"top" infectious diseases expert, and was practicing epidemiology when Coatsworth was still
in nappies. And is also why Kelly is Australia's Chief Medical Officer.
