The various websites I've used are all uniformly terrible in that they force you to toss blind arrows onto the map seeking a place that has open slots.  But even so I did find a place closer than 4 hours drive - and I'd've driven 4 hours, if that's what it would take.  Distance should not be an impediment, to my mind, unless you're truly incapable of long travel.

I got mine at the Safeway down the street.  The appointments were on their website.  Also Wallgreens and some of the other supermarket and drug stores have Covid appointments.  I wouldn't even bother with the state website.
