Coronavirus spreads. But don't panic! (topical thread)
This past 7 day's US numbers below.
Take aways:
* Deaths down 7% over last week, new cases down 15%.
* However, Sunday thru Tuesday, deaths spiked 27% over the same days the prior week, and new cases went up just a bit, 3%. This is probably some kind of anomaly, but bears watching, particularly since Sunday and Monday are normally quite moribund for reporting. Sign that we've bottomed out and headed back up? Too early to tell. Hopefully not.
* There continues to be a modestly greater number of recoveries vs active cases, so that last column is inching up VERY slowly (more is better for the last 3 columns, but barring a huge increase in US population, the first 2 of them will inherently never rise and can only go down while there is any degree of infection occurring at all). I round these numbers to zero decimal places; you'd need 2 decimal places to see those changes in the last column. It is, at least, better than it dropping a whole point every couple of days like it was for awhile.
* As expected, total deaths pandemic-to-date went past 500,000 this week.
