Every night my wife comes home from the nursing home in tears. She puts all her work clothes in the washer, and takes a shower first thing. People are dropping all around her. But every day she goes back to work staring death in the face and does her job.
I asked her to quit and she said no.
"The residents need me."
My hero.
I haven't yet reached the going home in tears stage yet, though I feel like I'm close.
At the moment, I'm torn between wanting to be there for the residents and wanting to find a new place to work. After all, my mental health is just as important, because without me the residents would be receiving less care. Staff shortages are an issue that I cannot responsibly shoulder alone for much longer.
Do you know when you and the residence of the nursing home be getting a vaccine? Same question for Free's wife.
