The American answer to almost every problem is to throw money at it.

We never learn.

I think the American answer is to try everything else first before landing upon the solution ... and then throwing money at it. When the fact is that solutions are usually cheaper at the beginning of the crisis rather than in the middle of it. Unfortunately, we have the habit of letting ideology intervene.

I believe it was Churchill who said that "Americans can be counted on to do the right thing, after they have tried all the wrong things."
