Dad used to bring home C-rats from Ft Bliss before he left the Army in 72. The only one I remember was the peanut-butter, which was pretty bad.

I was eating C-rats at Fort Blissin the late 70s. What I remember is how good they were was directly proportional to how hungry I was. Except for the fruit cake. As far as I could tell the only thing the fruit cake was good for was throwing at the enemy if you ran out of bullets. I think that is probably true of all fruit cake though, and not specific to the C-rat variety.
