Legally, if the store's doors were not closable or lockable, then the store would be considered a
public space, rather than private property. Of course this will never happen.
We essentially have the same process here. "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" is a retail mantra here --rarely used, but well-known and irrefutable from any customer unless they hire a lawyer (in the event of wrongful refusal).
And American law generally is that any property-owner or lessee may determine who may and may not be on the property, and if one is told to leave, refusal to do so is misdemeanor trespass. To my knowledge, lockable doors are not required to enforce this. Be it said, my store is a 24/7 gas station, and we do have lockable doors, mainly in order to be able to secure a crime-scene in the event of a robbery.
