California added over 10,000 cases today and NY under 900. At that rate, California will pass NY by the end of the week for #1.
Texas and Florida, although having a lot more wiggle room, also gained about 8,000 cases each on NY. This could get to be quite a horse race.

I've been using the Worldometers count since March and they show NY with nearly 436k cases and California with 410k as of yesterday. But no matter which, it is only a matter of time until California blows right past. The question is will Texas and Florida also blow by?
And how many more of those in ICUs are not going to get out and what kind of shape will the survivors be in?
Also look at the cases and deaths per 1 million people. That's an interesting statistic. One place that seems to have it under control is Hawaii but they have a built in wall around them in the form of the Pacific. They have a little more than 1,400 cases and around 25 deaths. That's a little over 1000 cases and 17 deaths per million people. I imagine their tourist industry has tanked.
