I know that you can only work with the numbers you've got but the data collection and reporting from the US is so dreadful that these can only be viewed as minima. In NY they're so low on supplies that they're only testing critically ill patients and many deaths that occurred outside of hospitals have been attributed to secondary factors rather than the disease itself.
What will really tell the truth about our response here in America will be when we collate 2020 deaths from all medically-treated causes. How many heart-attack patients don't get prompt treatment, for instance may well be a result of how many ICU beds were taken up by Covid patients. Many of those deaths as well could be an indirect result of this pandemic.
This pandemic will kill more people than simply those who contracted the virus, simply by way of ripples.
