I used to have chickens, for decades. However, where I live now there seems to be no protecting them from racoons, or I would raise them for eggs again in a heart beat. I like chickens, they have funny personalities and some get to act like dogs. 

I am the one who ends up with all the easter ducklings people buy for their kids, if they survive the squeezing. Once they get too big for an aquarium, people drive by my place and throw them over the fence, because there is a pond that can be seen from the street. The young ones never make it to the pond and I get to collect the dead little bodies from the pasture above. The ones who do make it have no parents who show them what to eat and how to survive, and as domestic ducks, they cannot fly. They also don't trust humans one bit. I get to buy grain for them and all their wild brethren who flock here once I do buy corn.

Sometimes people piss me off to no end. Fucking assholes!
