With 475 deaths, the minimum uncertainty due to counting statistics alone is +/-9% at the 95% confidence interval.

That isn't to say that I'd prefer a larger sample size.

Somebody else can go to some state sites and compile a bigger sample. I was answering D42's post with some numbers from Washington State. The why of a difference between the sexes on death rate is likely to be very complex. Worthy material for a study or twenty, I recon
