Prior to Trump, this type of batshit crazy was largely confined to the fringes.  Despite jerry's desperate attempts to keep his head in the sand regarding any significant changes that the Trump presidency has wrought, Trump himself has coronated such craziness with an air of legitimacy that has caused it to become mainstream.  Trump has literally accelerated the decline toward an Idiocracy with his constant lying and his repeatedly embracing conspiracy theories in order to deflect from his failures and malfeasance.

Don't see why you feel the need to drag me into it.  Your description of Trump's alleged irreparable damage to the nation is shrill and overly dramatic, but I must say it isn't as shrill or as overly dramatic as some of your competitors around here lately, this was maybe (being generous) the seventh best of the last ten.  Look, you can't just go with "Trump" how slow a learner are you?  You gotta go with "Orange Cuntmeister" or "T.Rumpsucker" or "SupercalifragilisticTrumpsamotherfucker" you know, something like that.
