Also, it needs to be considered that Florida is the fifth-oldest state, while Washington is at 38th. Given the mortality of this virus in seniors, that will likely add to Florida's toll above and beyond unpreparedness.

Not to mention that large cities tend to be transport hubs, and also that they use extensive transit systems like light rail and bus, which will also aid spread. Of course NYC is going to be hurt more; dense population plus reliance on the subways only abets spread. Hard to see why this is even a point of contention.
