China and South Korea have flattened their curves. Italy, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands have begun to flatten their curves.
The United States still has not.
More than half of all confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States have been diagnosed in the past five days. Depending on what data source you use, yesterday was either the worst day for new cases or one of the worst. And more than 3,000 Americans with the virus have died, meaning the death toll has now exceeded that of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
If everyone was wearing masks, not the type the hospitals need, but the light ones that just cover nose and mouth but do not seal on the face, transmission would be almost halted. This is to stop infected people from passing the virus to others. It worked for China and South Korea, but we never learn.
I read yesterday that China is not really revealing their true numbers. That it hasn't flattened at all. Resident doctors in China are reporting that the incineraters are running all day long and they ain't just throwing paper towels in the fires. Hard to verify because it's the Chinese government we're talking about here.
