Bread and milk can be frozen. Granted, the bread isn't the best once it's thawed again, but it's still good for toast and is far better than none. I was surprised that I can't find yeast anywhere. Despite bread machines, home baking of bread hasn't been the "in" thing in a long, long time. Must be a lot of people with machines in the attic/garage.

I freeze bread. Fresh-baked doesn't suffer much at all. But I've drank thawed milk. The separation ruins it for me. Blech.

You have to shake the fuck out of it once it's thawed for it to get it mixed back together and tasting reasonable. But, it works fine for cooking/baking and for cereals, hot or cold. I grew up with a mother who could pinch the beard right off of Honest Abe and would buy in bulk when stuff, especially staples, were on sale, so I grew up with things like that. She never went to this extreme, but I've heard of people who would shell a dozen eggs, scramble them, and freeze them in ice cube trays. My home ec. teacher back in the day swore by it, but claimed they were only good for baking after that.
