Apples and oranges my dear. We've no idea what this will look like in 3 months, 6 months, or a year. To down play it, particularly when there are vulnerable populations of elderly and those with preexisting conditions that put them at higher risk, is as irresponsible as overpaying it would be.
Take the middle road. Be cautious depending on your own particular circstamce, take precautions, but don't go buy 1k in some and wipe out whole grocery stores and useless facemasks that would be best used by hospitals and the infected.
There's a responsible way to handle this.
Someone in Lake Oswego school district has the corona virus which is the school district right next to the school district my husband works in. It's about 12 miles from where I live. I'm still not running around in a panic.
