Bicycling While Black - a Death Sentence Worthy crime if ever I heard one!

Sheriff’s Department Capt. Kent Wegener said Thursday that Dijon Kizzee, who was shot and killed in South Los Angeles on Aug. 31 after he was stopped for an alleged vehicle code violation while on a bicycle, tried to run away after punching a deputy and dropped pieces of clothing, including one that had a pistol inside. When he bent over and picked it up, he was shot.

Ah, but supposedly there is body cam video which should clear up the incident!

After body camera footage was released in September, a lawyer representing Kizzee’s family described the shooting as an “execution.”

Or perhaps not.

But this was interesting given the other incident involving the LA Sheriff's office.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office has come under intense scrutiny this summer after a whistleblower reported that several gangs existed within the department, including ones dubbed the Executioners, the Grim Reapers, Banditos and Jump Out Boys. The officer who shot and killed teenage auto body shop security guard Andres Guardado in June was allegedly angling to join one of these gangs.
