Well... what would Martians think if they saw a human emptying a cat's toilet?
Felines must be the dominant creatures here on Earth.

Big Grin

Only if they thought cats could do it themselves.  Besides, maybe they have pet sextopuses and do the same.  Wink

I really really really hope you mean six-armed 'octopuses' and not tentacle porn... XD

We've had birds in the porch box for several years. This year a black tailed bumblebee queen moved in. i felt bad for the birds that have been rejected, but I know we need pollinators. They buzz the whole box if disturbed, but are very docile IMO. I had to tap on the box to get one to come out for this photo, and it was warning me with buzzing wings while i got my phone a couple of inches away.

Aerodynamicists over the years keep publishing papers that prove bumblebees can't fly; fortunately, the bees can't read.

By the way, for those with Netflix, check out Black Mirror episode "Most Hated in the Nation" for a chilling take on the bees in our near future.

Now that I have this queen, I will be making another box for them with a smaller entrance. I really felt bad for my little bird friends who got the really rude Bum's rush at the door.

I'm not sure the phrase "tentacle porn" has ever crossed my mind before but now you've probably ruined a few nights's sleep while I try to avoid even the slightest thought of it. Meanwhile, try not to think about Pink Elephants On Parade or Gemmer.

There are aspects of anime that I envy your lack of knowledge about.  Big Grin

Every other year or so I get a nest of paper wasps. They make their own nests under the eve. People tend to be aghast and want me to spray them, but I have found them to be very peaceful just going about their business. They leave the nest in fall and never return.

The neat thing is that invariably the next year a pair of swallows builds a nest behind the abandoned paper wasp home. The swallows and the critters that live in my pond totally eliminate all mosquitos, which tend to be a pest around here. I haven't had a mosquito bite in 20 years or more.

I welcome the paper wasps, and I roll out the red carpet for the swallows.

We have some paper wasps' nests here at our house. Once I figured that out, I quit spraying them with poison. Ain't hurting me, I don't bother with it.

The only time I bother to spray any stinging insects is if they build their nests too close to ingress/egress points, or build it inside an exterior wall and start finding their way in the house. If they do that, I go back to the ship and nuke the whole site from orbit, just to be sure.

If insects are inside my apartment, they die (with an exemption for ladybugs).

If they are outside, they live (unless they bite or sting me).

This seems to be a workable set of rules.

The dreaded origami wasps? (Be worried if they leave a unicorn.)

We have (had?) these tiny little fuckin' moths, intent on getting between me and my monitor. Electric tennis racket of death was much fun, the asswipes literally exploded when I snared one.

Imagine a picture of a great horned owl on a tree limb. I've tried to take it two nights now, and he flies off as soon as I have a clear shot. Hmm, apt choice of words.

Brother-in-law has been in a wheelchair since the seventies he was a fireman and was injured in a building collapse. They took some of the insurance money and built a pool so he could get some exercise. My sister who is a tiny thing was just broken down from trying to help him in and out of the pool, so I designed a lift for him on the back of a napkin and started building it this was about 20 years ago.
I found a big pneumatic cylinder at a surplus place in Seattle and used the inner bearing from a semi front axle at the bottom of the post and a pillow block at the top. I took these pictures the subject was the sharp-shinned hawk on the fence behind.
The cylinder is stored in the garage during the winter for freeze.

The parallelogram linkage keeps the chair upright and flat and stable. The garden hose is the source of power. The plastic seat parts are from a shower chair. I built the anchor block 3x3x2 concrete on the far side of the pool slab, and I put in sockets instead of studs sticking out of the concrete. That way if the lift was ever removed there would be no fall hazard on to bolts.
There is a handle rail that pivots at the base of the lift and rolls on a single wheel and locks into the corner of the pool. That is how he could pull himself around 90° and get in the pool by himself.
When he loads into it it's sitting on a rest where you see it, and it sits on the edge of the pool firmly when it is down submerged in the water. I made it so he would pull himself up onto it using that trapeze bar above.
This is the house that is for sale.

That's so innovative mate!   Any chance of a video to see it working (minus brother of course).     Smile
