First time homebuyer at age 71. And the realtors say I'm golden up to $250,000.00U$D. Well Boss Lady is any way.

You guys are near St Louis if I am not mistaken?
That's great.
Time to start watching home maintenance vids.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
Good luck! I hope you find something wonderful. (Get ready for lots of stress, though)
god, ugh
So, what's the house like? Have you picked one yet?

Our approval was bumped up to $250,000U$D with an option for $50,000 more. The first house I remember living in was rent-free, in exchange for the parents' labor, sharecropping it was called. How many square feet are you looking at? New vs previously owned? Yard size? Any other particulars?
Our house market is nuts also. They're still selling above initial asking.

Because interest rates are soon going up-up-up!
Congratulations. I would love to be in the position to buy again.

I've owned a house since 1974 and I've had enough of it. My son just went to contract on a condo in New York so I know what you mean about the real estate market.

Yeah, the house in that picture is gone already. 2-3 days is not unknown in this market. (This area is later generation, post baby boom and more.) Center St. Louis is trying to regain their mojo, but I don't love the traffic down there.

I was thinking the same thing. Downunder, $250K will only get you a one-BR apartment in any of our capitol cities. A 4-BR house with 2 bathrooms plus a double lockup garage will set you back $500K to $1mil+ in the same locales. I'm a creationist; I believe that man created God.

According to Zillow, 3-bedroom houses are still generally running between $140,000 and $180,000 on my street. Of course I can't really recommend our rather run-down town.
Locked a deal for a split level. This one is ours. I'm a first time home buyer, but very skilled at moving.
