The number is the same foreward as it is backwards.  Duh.  This hasn't happened in 909 hundred years and it won't happen again for another 100 or so years.   I think it's fun but then I'm a bit of a goof.

I think a palindrome year was 2002.
But I'm not sure.

Those are just years.  This is the year, day and month!  It's the same in Europe even though they switch the day and months   Furthermore,  at the time of 02:02:2020  on this day of 02/02/2020 it was an even looonger palindrome.  So whadddya think of them  apples?  Hrumph!

I had to write a program that printed out all the palindrome dates, with days/months/years or years/months/days or both.

So, only 2 number palindromes, got it.

I didn't realize this until now. The palindromes you listed aren't "global" palindromes because in many countries around the world, they list the day followed by the month, instead of the other way around. So in order for it to be a palindrome in both countries that use the first form and those that use the second form, the day and month need to be the same.

The date can be written in three different orders, with and without leading zeroes, and each has its own set of palindromes

Just out of curiosity, what are the three different orders? (I'm only familiar with two.)

yyyy/mm/dd (and yy/mm/dd)

yyyy/dd/mm (and yy/dd/mm)

mm/dd/yyyy (and mm/dd/yy)

Even then, not everyone includes the leading zeros -- which makes the whole thing moot.
