Actually Doltish One, the "ultimate meaning" of the sacrament of Christian marriage has had many meanings throughout the ages, and it changed a lot. "According to the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer (1979), reflecting the traditional view, "Christian marriage is a solemn and public covenant between a man and a woman in the presence of God,", "intended by God for their mutual joy; for the help and comfort given one another in prosperity and adversity; and, when it is God's will, for the procreation of children and their nurture." However, while many Christians might agree with the traditional definition, the terminology and theological views of marriage have varied through time in different countries, and among Christian denominations." - Wiki

That's not what he's saying *at all*. It's you that didn't bother to watch this. From the very start, his threatening implication is, that changing "marriage" is a dangerous enterprise. And it should be. Human sexuality is a NEW science, ... something the old farts in the Bible knew nothing about. SCIENCE provided humans NEW FACTS ... and religion in general cannot deal with these new facts, without shitting in their pants about what they mean. There is no way, and not one instance of "god saying" anything. The views of marriage written in various places, (multiple people in the OT, not just man and wife) changed through the centuries, and the "bride of Christ" was cooked up FAR later than the church's beginning. The concept of marriage in the Bible changed a lot.

Actually for most of human history marriage was a means of cementing alliances between families and had fuckall to do with gods or love.  It was all about wealth.

But then, history was never your long suit.
