If you could bring back one writer from the dead

If you could bring back one writer from the dead
In order to write more, who would it be?

My choice would be Michael Crichton. That man was a brilliant writer.

My first choice was Henry Thoreau, since he left a lot of his writing projects incomplete when he died at the age of 44.

However, I wouldn't want to traumatize the poor guy. He would be a hopeless anachronism in the modern world.

George Orwell, obviously. I'm sure he'd love to see how things turned out!

Robert G. Ingersoll or Mark Twain.  Consider
“I expect to pass this way but once; any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” (Etienne De Grellet)

Mark Twain would probably take it all in stride, so that's a good choice.

Yeah, Twain ... or Hemingway. Though the latter might just swallow a shotgun again after seeing some of the shit we're up to today.

If you could bring back one writer from the dead
Isaac Asimov and Douglas Adams.

I know Douglas Adams is mostly known for his Hitchhikers series but my favourite book from him was the one he wrote about his travels looking for endangered species around the world called "Last chance to see..."

My favourite books from Isaac Asimov are his Foundation series.

Probably Shakespeare.  We could find out who the Dark Lady of his Sonnets was.

To be fair, most classic authors were exactly that.

I saw Douglas Adams speak on his book tour for Last Chance To See in 1990.  He was in a Taylors Bookstore in Dallas.  That bookstore chain is now extinct too, though I still have a couple bookmarks from it.

To be honest, hate the man and not what he brilliantly created. His personal views, after all, in no way undervalue his written accomplishments.

Twain would be a good choice, or Faulkner or Steinbeck, or any of a bunch of classic authors. My personal choice would be H.G. Wells, with Jules Verne taking a close second.

I bet H.G. Wells would be impressed by modern technologies, scientific discoveries, and science fictions.
