In order to write more, who would it be?
My choice would be Michael Crichton. That man was a brilliant writer.

If you could bring back one writer from the dead
Vince Flynn. He died wayyyy too young.
Plato, so he could explain that Atlantis shit.

Terry Pratchett, but from before he got Alzheimers.
My first choice was Henry Thoreau, since he left a lot of his writing projects incomplete when he died at the age of 44.
However, I wouldn't want to traumatize the poor guy. He would be a hopeless anachronism in the modern world.

If you could bring back one writer from the dead
George Orwell, obviously. I'm sure he'd love to see how things turned out!
“For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.” -Carl Sagan.

Definitely Antal Szerb. He was a brilliant man. Killed by the motherfucking Nazis.
Step on the gas and wipe that tear away...
Robert G. Ingersoll or Mark Twain.
“I expect to pass this way but once; any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” (Etienne De Grellet)

Yeah, Twain ... or Hemingway. Though the latter might just swallow a shotgun again after seeing some of the shit we're up to today.
On hiatus.
HP Lovecraft
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
Isaac Asimov and Douglas Adams.
I know Douglas Adams is mostly known for his Hitchhikers series but my favourite book from him was the one he wrote about his travels looking for endangered species around the world called "Last chance to see..." My favourite books from Isaac Asimov are his Foundation series.
Patanjali
Probably Shakespeare. We could find out who the Dark Lady of his Sonnets was.

I saw Douglas Adams speak on his book tour for Last Chance To See in 1990. He was in a Taylors Bookstore in Dallas. That bookstore chain is now extinct too, though I still have a couple bookmarks from it.
Hitchens.

Twain would be a good choice, or Faulkner or Steinbeck, or any of a bunch of classic authors. My personal choice would be H.G. Wells, with Jules Verne taking a close second.
