Ah, but see, then you are talking about "tall tales" or "yarns". You can never know if what you have is what "Frank" said or if it is what "George" thinks he heard "Frank" say.

Whenever you start with this "oral tale" stuff you are not only entering human memory in the equation but also human hearing. Socrates' sayings are written in Plato's dialogues. I guess Frank did not have literate friends.
