Does an old TV show count? I happened to see 'Bonanza' where Adam was born. Of course the wife died. I knew that going in. All Ben's wives died. Ben was practically a plague on women, LOL! They were like security guards on Star Trek (OMG, I have a red shirt!) or Star Wars Storm Troopers (OMG I have a laser rifle and I can't aim straight.)
Seriously, the episode was well done and it was interesting seeing "The Young Ben" (makeup can do wonders). I didn't remember that he was originally a Sea Captain (call me Ishmeaben?) who left the high seas for the solid ground of Ponderosa Ranch. Apparently, he carried his oar a LONG way. If I understand the ending correctly, he left some Atlantic seaport town to head West in the company of a nanny (for Adam, we may presume). I could look it up on Wiki, but if memory serves (Dad made us watch Bonanza every week) Hoss was born of a woman he met going West so maybe that was her.
Little Joe's parentage completely escapes my memory. I never liked him much anyway...
And I mention this because Adam (hmm, first-born, right...) was my favorite of the show. I always have preferred "the good guys" who dared to wear black (Zorro, Paladin). I was devastated when he left "to study law in San Fransisco".

Never argue with people who type fast and have too much time on their hands...
