DAFUQ?

Anybody know wha "emendic" means?

"...emendic massage treatment. Website of Dr. Nikonov Nikolai Borisovich."

Sounds like woo. Deadpan Coffee Drinker

Yeah, that's pretty much all I found too. And the bad good doctor does sound crazy. Or greedy. Hmm

What movie did you last see?
Fifth Element

Plot:
Every 500 years evil comes. To defeat the evil you gather the 4 elements (fire, wind, earth, water) ,contained within some magic stones, around an all powerful 5th element, which will shoot out "The divine light" and destroy the evil. At some point in a sci-fi future, the evil has returned again, and it's up to an ex-armed forces taxi driver to save the world.

Thought:
WELL, this is one of my favourite movies. It's great. I really can't put into words why I even like it that much, I just think it has everything in a perfect balance. The cinematography, the music, the designs of the aliens......everything. It's funny, it's got action, it's serious. What else isn't there to like about it? I bloody well love it.

War Dogs - As a movie it was ok. It just made me constantly think of Trump, for some reason, which ruined the experience.
The conjuring 2 - Childish faith-porn for people who enjoyed God's Not Dead.
Spider-man Homecoming - Not my cup of tea.
Truth or Dare (2018) - Not bad; preferred the original.

Anon with Clive Owen. Not sure why I keep watching his movies. Deep themes that are never waded into beyond ankle depth. In a future where everything that anyone sees or hears is recorded and easily accessible to investigators, people have surrendered their privacy in exchange for violent criminals and petty thieves always being caught. There are hints of corruption because investigators have little interest in the system hacks by which white collar criminals cover up their crimes. Anonymity in this transhuman, privacy hating world is perceived as a more heinous crime than murder.

This was a fun little horror/monster movie that didn’t always hit its mark. Chance the rapper was definitely just stunt casting, he wasn’t that great of an actor. Worth a watch if you enjoy the silly monster movie genre.

I love the way they used this aria from Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor":

That film contained the weirdest character (Zorg) I've ever seen Gary Oldman portray.

I'm not sure on the entire thing, as she may very well have sang that first bit live, as she is/was an actual opera singer (not just a random actor in makeup) so she CAN sing, and it makes sense that she might sing the first part live as it's a standard opera style. The latter bit I know for sure as I saw a documentary about it, and her physically recording that bit.

Again, it might only be that particular part (the multi tone section) as it's impossibly to change to that many different notes, apparently. The rest of it very well may have been live Big Grin

Gary Oldman is such a great character actor (and all round actor), as he's played some crazy people in his time. Zorg is such an odd/evil person as well, plus that southern gentleman drawl he has makes him sound all the more sinister as well.

The Fifth Element is one of my favorite Milla Jovovich movies. I have it in my DVD collection and I've probably watched it two dozen times. Cutest line: "Leeloo Dallas, Multipass." I love her accent.

A couple of years ago I was surprised to discover that Luc Besson started writing the script for The Fifth Element when he was only 16 years old.

Yeh the idea came to him in high school, IIRC. He wrote a whole lot of in, I imagine very briefly as opposed to a proper script, but he carried that idea around with him until he was able to make it, which is very cool.

"She knows it's a mulipass!" Big Grin  Its such a good movie. I've watched probably more times than I should do.

Don't Breath

Plot:
Some kids break into an old mans house under the pretense of stealing some money. The chap is blind, an also an ex-army dude. Things take a turn for the worst when the robbery goes very wrong, and they discover something dark about the blind man's life....

Thought:
There are a fair few plot holes, and at times it isn't the best edited  movie I've seen BUT it has something not a lot of horror/scary films have, genuine tension. You kind of let everything else go because everything thing is so tense/on edge, that you just want the people to get out. All in all, not bad. Something mildly different from a genre of movie, which isn't all "blood and guts".

It's just the one old man that is blind. He has good hearing, but the people involved are walking around in their socks at times holding their breath....it's a bit convoluted. It's alright though.

I liked it, except for the unnecessary stab at non-believers. I hate it when they hijack good movies for unveiled propaganda.

That little nervous guy Bruce Willis speaks to at the door, is a British stand up comedian named Lee Evans (He was also in There's Something About Mary and Mouse Hunt), and is one of my all time favourite comedians as well, which only makes this film even better for me.  Thumbs Up
