What movie did you last see?
I didn't know the new Dragon film was even in production! I owe you two lives.

Regarding "Crimes", it is information dense and I expect a dozen or so threads started there that will play out over the next three movies.

I also love how the 'Net is buying into Grindelwald's Big Lie.

Murder on the Orient express (2017)

The plot is self-explanatory.
I found it to be excellent. It's not often it takes me this long to predict the end.
The movie sets the tone of the plot to make you overlook the obvious clues. A clever misdirection.

Ocean's eight (2018)

It was ok. As good as a fourth of a series with an entirely new cast and obvious plot-holes can be.

Bright

A supernatural cop movie in an alternate universe with Will Smith. This is either a good cop movie with serious issues or a bad fantasy movie with a few redeeming qualities.
Elves are usually just humans with big ears but they made their movements distinct, at least. And I like the way the people talk. It sounds phony but it is amusing, so plus points for that too.
I think this was original pitched as a tv series; that way they could flesh out the anemic characters and background story, which are woefully inadequate even after 2 hrs.
Good special effects though.

Stasis (2017)

A bizarre B time-travel, body-snatcher and ghost sci-fy, set in the post WWIII wasteland and 2017.
The acting is a bit sloppy and stiff. The action scenes are really bad.
If you skip it you haven't missed much.

Ghost Stories

Plot:
A semi-famous skeptic is charged with investigating 3 crazy tales of ghosts, as reported by 3 very different people. Each person recounts their story, which we see then play out on screen, in a spooky fashion. Then the skeptic himself gets drawn into some spooky shenanigans of his own, and not everything may be as it seems.

Thoughts:
This is great. I'm not one for scary movies, and don't really find any film overtly "scary" but this one had me a fair few times. Plus the way it all works out in the end is just fantastic. It's fairly low budget but features Martin Freeman and the UK's own Paul Whitehouse, to great effect in their own roles accordingly.

In short, it's a great story, and is scary as balls. Check it out for sure.  Thumbs Up

I keep avoiding watching this movie.

I'll have to check it out.

BTW, if you haven't seen Hereditary, don't bother.  It's not scary, and overall it's lame.

Watched the new Robin Hood film starring Jamie Foxx and Taron Egerton

A lukewarm movie, was a one-time watch at best.

Was disappointed in Egerton given his stellar performances in Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Still very excited for Rocketman though..

I've heard him say he won't be in the next one. And with good reason according to sources, it's going to be a prequel. "Kingsman: From the Bloody Start"?

That'd be Kingsman: The Great Game, it's set as a prequel in the 1900s, so no Eggsy (Taron Egerton)

Also saw John Wick again.

An ex-assassin wreaks brutal revenge after Russian Mafia prince kills his dog.

Very good movie. Keanu Reeves is brilliant as John

BLACKkKLANSMAN

SO good.
I could see it being compulsory viewing for all US kids twelve to eighteen. And I would approve.
It's almost a simple story, really. But, a great story - true & historically accurate. At times, sweet and poignant but also, funny and edgy.

Small things:
Heart epilogue
Heart perfect music
Heart I miss afros
Heart beautiful, beautiful Prince

Yep! Did you notice that the family had complexions now?

People complain the villain was too obvious, but none of them named names before the movie came out. Consider

the last not seen before (to me movie) was Wonder woman .. last Christmas i think, I got it as a gift on blue ray.

It wasn't deep or meaningful, Gal Gadot was awesome though. it's an enjoyable movie to watch.

I'll say this much: It was a step-up from Sharknado.
It was quite apparent that it had a much bigger budget the usual Syfy mega-prehistoric creature movies.

Calling it a "good" would be a bit of a stretch though.

Over the weekend I watched all three Robocop movies. I've always wondered why Peter Weller was not in the third one.

OtherLife - 7/10
A story about virtual experience technology, with cerebral time dilation as a bonus; turning seconds into several hours.
The sister of a man with brain-damage is trying to get the technology approved and rushes the tests, ultimately getting trapped in an induced dream. Or is it?

Suburbicon - ?/10
The plot is a snapshot in a 50's suburban community filled with racist, criminals, idiots and a few innocent trying to get by.
Reminiscent of Mad Men; a sort of quiet underlying despair seems to hang over the main characters.
I didn't like this one. I believe it succeeded to be what it was intended to. It's just not for me.

Silence (2016) - 2.5/10
First class persecution-porn; set in 17th-century Japan, two priests trying to keep the Christian faith going against the wishes of the buddhist feual lords.
On principle I always watch till the end, this time it was very hard. The entre underlying premise and the obstacles are depressingly ridiculous.

Annihilation (2018) - 6/10
A crashed meteor is generating a mysterious expanding field, warping physical components around itself, including DNA. No on who enters the shimmer returns, and now a new team enters to solve the mystery.
There is probably deeper meanings to what happens, but I only saw a well-funded monster-flick with a lot of lose ends.
If you find yourself asking questions during the movie, know they will not be answered.

Revolt - 5/10
An American soldier wakes up in Nairobi with amnesia, during the second wave of an alien machine invasion. As civilization collapses, he must find allies and recover his memories while dodging crazed rebels and giant killer robots armed with energy weapons.
Not very good nor very bad.

Spectral - 9/10
Modern-day wrap-up-war-zone in a East-European city, where invisible creatures hunt people. The engineer of the camera that - by accident -  can see them join up with a SEAL-team to fight back.
Well made. Much better than I thought. High marks for cast, acting, effects and over-all detail work.
