It's a mafia flic, set in the 1950's. Last night Jimmy Hoffa entered.
The plot and production values are pretty good. Unfortunately ,the direction (by Martin Scorcese) and/or editing seem pedestrian. What should have been a 3 or 4 star movie only 2 stars imo.
However, I just looked at Rotten Tomatoes. They give it 96% . I might have another go. It's a long film, at 3.5 hours.
Addendum; The film also stars an almost unrecognisable Al Pacino (79) as Jimmy Hoffa, Anna Paquin, Steven Van Zandt and Ray Romano.
Put's me in mind of Serge Leone's wonderful "Once upon A Time In America",(1984) which had some of the same guys before they become real stars ; Such as Robert De Nero, Joe Pesci, and James Woods .Plus a young Elizabeth McGovern, Tuesday Weld, Treat Williams, Danny Aiello, and William Forsythe.
Highly recommended if you haven't seen it.
