I've owned this recording for quite a few years, but I haven't listened to it in some time. My initial impression of Sarah Chang was that she was somewhat wooden and had a slavish adherence to straight readings, and I don't know that she's managed to shake that image with me, but I've come across a couple of her recordings that I like. This is one of them, and is a very rewarding listen.
Mountain-high though the difficulties appear, terrible and gloomy though all things seem, they are but Mâyâ.
Fear not — it is banished. Crush it, and it vanishes. Stamp upon it, and it dies.
