You are correct. It's not hate speech. It wasn't banned for a day because it was hateful either. If it was a hateful symbol it would have been banned permanently. It was banned for a day to avoid fighting during a popular school event. The flag was deemed "a fighting word" in such a volatile and particular context (the fact it was in a school also "helps" since school have more leeway to restrict clothing and apparel of their students for all sorts of reasons). You can ban things in some area for security reason if it's deamed justifiable and it was judged by the court in this specific example that it was justifiable.
Quote:Banning the flag was the act of hate. In the USA people are supposed to be able to speak their minds without the threat of violence inflicted upon them and has been pointed out, the threat of violence came from the 5 of May celebrators. Another good reason to not have such divisive events on school property.
The reason the event could be considered divise; that the US flag had to be banned are the result of the abscence of hate speech laws in your country. You are furious and affraid of a symptome of a disease and are paranoid about one of its best remedy.
Quote:Again, not in IRAN - which was my whole point, the artsy fartsy person (OBEY) along with NIKE (sweat shops) creating a myth that does not reflect the reality of ISLAMIC LAW .
No, your point (at least the one I was addressing) was that as a "lefty" US citizen the artist who made the star spangled hijab would have to obey a fatwa decrying such art and law because that's apparently what "lefty" people must according to you.
As for the "artsy fartsy person and NIKE they design cloth for people around the world. There are muslims in pretty much all countries and they can "pimp" their hijab for all I care who gives a shit. If they think it's going to make them look cooler they will buy those things and if they are ready to buy those things, someone will sell them. They aren't forced to respect the laws or tradition of some muslim country either if they don't like it and don't live in that country. It doesn't make them any less muslim. You sound like you are gatekeeping what's good muslim behavior and what's not.
Iran and Islamic law isn't "lefty". Extreme social conservatism and coporatism aren't "lefty" ideological beliefs. They are actually the stapple of the "righty". Iran doesn't allow stuff that "lefty" likes and do because Iran isn't a "lefty" country. Lefties in general don't like the most of things the Iranian government does either.
Quote:Still havent found that woman in Iran wearing her flag hijab have ya?
I showed you a picture uploaded from an official Iranian government website of such a woman and you still don't believe it's legal for them to do so if they want to? Do you think they are the kind of people who would publish photo of blasphemy in puff pieces? What the fuck is wrong with your brain?
Here's another one. Nevermind the article which is about a husband lording over his wife. The photo is actually what you demand. A woman in Iran wearing a national flag as a hijab. Note that the woman discussed in the article and this one aren't the same person. It's just an illustrative photo.
Quote:Your ok with banning one flag but not the other.
No I'm not. I'm not okay with banning flags and/or beloved cultural holidays. Either things are sad and terrible and a sign that something is terribly wrong. You got yourself in this shit because you never had the guts or the brain to defend those two things equally by applying hate speech laws on your land. You let hateful extremists divide you by granting them platform and legitimacy, letting them subvert beloved and common symbols to their nefarious use and now complain when school administrators have to deal with the fallout of your spinelesness using blunt tools because they don't have better options at hand.
PS: if you want to continue this discussion I suggest either PM or new thread btw.
