The beauty of this world has made me sad - Vera - 10-19-2018

But also so incredibly lucky to be alive and human...

(a reincarnation of the feeling positive thread on TFPTSNBN)

Was literally just telling my neighbour how I've always wanted to go on a horseback riding trip in Mongolia... and this was in the Guardian  Heart

Also so what?

RE: The beauty of this world has made me sad - Dom - 10-19-2018

It looks really cool. Personally though, not a friend of snow anymore.

It's cool to look at in all it's forms, but not to be outside in. My old bones don't like it at all. There are a lot of things I used to enjoy - but no more. As much as our world grows bigger as we proceed through childhood, it shrinks as we get old.

As long as there are days though when I step outside, take a deep breath and look at the beauty around me, there will be times when I think to myself: "it's good to be alive!"

Put a couple of hemlock and oak trees in that picture and it would look pretty much like the forest behind my house.

So...someone makes a thread about the beauty of the world, and you have to be salty about it?

Hehe. I was posting from my phone (we hatesssss it) and accidentally posted only "but also". Phucking phone!

@Dom, I was hard pressed choosing too!

RE: The beauty of this world has made me sad - thesummerqueen - 11-30-2018

That makes a lot more sense!

RE: The beauty of this world has made me sad - c172 - 11-30-2018

Yeah, I was kind of wondering about that comment too. Big Grin

Those salt lakes are pretty wild. Australia scares me a bit with all the lethal or pain-inducing wildlife it has, plus weird weather at times. But all of that, plus other oddities like herein make it kind of interesting.

I went to Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao earlier this year, and I think on Bonaire (my favorite of the ABC's, they have big huge salt mines or some such, that cover much of the island with what amounts to salt flats, I guess (only got to see pics).

Thank you so much for clearing this up, Vera. I wasn't being salty at all, I had trouble making sense of the way the OP was originally written. Thanks for clearing that up ... my biggest pet peeve of all is misattributing my motives so I'm very glad that now everyone knows that I wasn't being salty and I just genuinely didn't understand the OP in the original form in which it was written!

If you hang around salt lakes, you're gonna get salty.... Tongue

I've lived in a lot of pretty places, mostly in the California mountains.  I live in Oregon now and Mt. Hood is about 40 minutes away from our house.  There  are many views of it from the Portland area.

There's a lake up there called Timothy lake that's really pretty and the lake is small enough that you can walk around the entire lake in about 1 hour.

Just east of us is the Columbia River Gorge.

and Multnomah Falls

It's usually full of tourists but I don't care, it's still beautiful.

Sometimes it freezes over and people go there to see the falls.

Lots of prettyness around these parts.  It makes me happy.   Girl_yes2

Very pretty!  Where is this?

RE: The beauty of this world has made me sad - thesummerqueen - 11-30-2018

Pineville, North Carolina, on a greenway that runs along a swampy area of a creek. It's murder in the summer, being in the south, and full of mosquitoes, but right now it's very nice.

Might you get fresh if you move over to freshwater lakes?

Depends how fresh you were from the beginning, and whether it's possible to get any fresher.

(That's not a sexist vagina joke).
